Since the last edition, SICO has had a number of new appointments to its board of directors, including three female board members.
Hisham Alkurdi is Vice Chairman and Executive Director on SICO’s board, representing the National Bank of Bahrain as well as a member of the board’s Investment Committee. He currently serves as Chief Executive for Corporate and Institutional Banking at NBB. Hisham has more than 22 years of experience across the banking and financial services sectors. He holds a Bachelor’s in Engineering in Systems control from the University of Huddersfield in the UK.
Tala Fakhro is a seasoned professional with with government administration, legal, and banking experience. She currently heads the Market and Strategy Intelligence department at the Economic Development Board. Prior to this, she spent 13 years working on structuring and portfolio management at Morgan Stanley in London, Gulf International Bank, the Saudi National Commercial Bank and NCB Capital in Bahrain. Tala holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Smith College, Northampton and Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC and has passed the New York bar exam.
Dana Raees was appointed to the SICO board as an Executive Director representing the Social Insurance Organization and is as a member of the Nomination, Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committee. She has more than 14 years of legal experience across an array of roles and currently serves as Legal Counsel at Osool Asset Management. Dana holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Warwick and an LPC from the College of Law in London.
Abdalla Kamal sits on the SICO Board as an Executive Director representing the Social Insurance Organization and serves as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. With more than 15 years of experience, Abdulla is currently Head of Operations at Osool Asset Management and also serves on the boards of Bahrain Car Park Company and the Osool Pension Fund. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Bahrain and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Associate Professional Risk Manager (APRM).
Naseema Haider was appointed to the board as a non-executive director representing Ahli United Bank and also serves on the board’s Audit and Risk Committee. She has more than 22 years of experience and currently serves as Head of Private Banking at Ahli United Bank. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Bahrain.
Khalid Al-Jassim serves on the SICO board as an Independent Director and member of the Investment Committee. He holds 29 years of experience and currently serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Afkar Holding. Khalid also sits on the boards of Wahed Invest, Ark Proventus, and Bahrain Islamic Bank. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from California State University, Long Beach as well as an Executive MBA from Pepperdine University.
