New Executive Appointments

Shaikh Waleed K. Al Hashar

Executive Director since January 2022, representing Bank Muscat – Oman

SICO is pleased to welcome Shaikh Waleed Khamis Al Hashar as the newest member of its esteemed Board of Directors. Shaikh Waleed, the CEO of Bank Muscat, was appointed as non-independent Executive Director of the Bank, representing Bank Muscat, which owns a 10.38% stake in SICO. In addition to heading Bank Muscat since 2019, Shaikh Waleed is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Oman Center for Governance and Sustainability, The College of Banking and Financial Studies, and the Oman Banks Association. He has over 28 years of experience in banking, as well as the oil and gas sectors, where he held senior positions in a number of firms before joining Bank Muscat. He holds a postgraduate diploma in General Management from Harvard Business School and a BSc and master’s in business administration from California State University in Sacramento, USA.

Owen Vallis

Chief Risk Officer

SICO is proud to announce the appointment of Owen Vallis as Chief Risk Officer, a newly created position that aims to strategically develop the Bank’s Risk Management function in a manner that will enable SICO to respond prudently to external risk factors, while maintaining sustainable business growth for the long-term. With over 18 years of international experience in risk management, Vallis was previously the UK Head of Asset Management Risk at Credit Suisse Group in London for 10 years. He was also Vice President at JP Morgan for two years and has worked at Morgan Stanley and Kleinwort Benson as a Risk Analyst. He holds a BSc. in Disaster Risk Management from the University of Portsmouth, UK.

Nimita Nazer

Head of Middle Office Asset Management

Nimita Nazer comes to her new position as the Head of Middle Office – Asset Management, a newly created department at SICO, as a seasoned investment banking professional with over 15 years’ experience in international commercial banks and financial services institutions in Bahrain. Nazer first joined SICO in 2018 as Portfolio Administrator in Equities Asset Management where she was responsible for managing the non-investment activities of the department. Outside of SICO, Nazer was previously the Finance Manager at Fayad Business Group W.L.L. where she helped grow and diversify the business regionally. She holds a MSc. in Professional Accountancy from the University of London.
